This dining table is one of the first pieces we began, making it milestone in our journey. Its design draws inspiration from both mid-century aesthetics and traditional Japanese joinery. Each joint is crafted from native hardwood, and the legs are mortised through the tabletop using diamond-shaped joinery, revealing the end grain of the legs on the surface. This exposed detail adds visual interest, and highlights the skill and precision involved in the table’s construction.

The sculptural void at the center is inspired by the natural live edges of the two central slabs. We extended that organic shape to create the ends of the negative space at the center. We used this feature to accentuate the flow of the wood grain across the tabletop to create a sense of balance and continuity. The result is a piece that feels both rustic and refined, showcasing the raw beauty of the material and the craftsmanship that brings it to life.
