For this piece, we selected a pine top for the four that we fabricated because it exhibits dramatic grain, including knots and tonal shifts that are contained within the elliptical form. We shaped the pine to contrast with and also complement the geometric form of the metal base.

We adapted the aluminum plate fabrication concepts used in our larger tables to smaller pieces, utilizing the same metal mortice and screw tapping methods, and utilizing spare space on the aluminum sheet to minimize waste.

The joints and mortises used here are designed for disassembly and re assembly, creating modular and universal bases for any material.
